Tarte Tartiest Pro Palette Review

Tarte Tartiest Pro Palette Review

When being in New York, I caved and treated myself to the 'Tarte Tartiest Pro Palette', and I'm so glad I did not leave this on the shelve at Sephora! Not that I really needed any more eyeshadow palettes in my life.

I could ramble on about was excited I was to experience going to a Sephora store aka makeup heaven, putting our UK stores to shame and trying out various American beauty brands that I've seen raved about online. Tarte was a brand I defiantly wanted to try since it's so hard to get your hands on in the UK, and obviously I did my research beforehand and knew if I was to purchase anything it would have to be their eyeshadows or blushers. I had my eye on the 'in bloom' palette for quite some time, until I eyed up this 20 shaded beauty.

First off, let's talk packaging. The palette comes in a sturdy plastic compact, as with their other palettes, however, this one is fairly bigger, which is great for travelling! I put this to the test when flying back and thankfully every shade made it back safe and sound, phew! The palette itself has a matte black top and shiny gold surfaced bottom, which although is sleek and aesthetically pleasing, there's no denying the fact that sadly, it's a dirt and fingerprint magnet. So far I've only used the palette a few times and it's already dirty, despite trying to clean and wipe it down, which is pretty upsetting as well as annoying for taking pretty pictures.

As previously mentioned, the palette features 20 eyeshadows, sixteen matte and four metallic shimmers. So although it's relatively pricey, you do get bang for your buck! At least that's what I convinced myself. The matte shades are pressed into squares with the metallic shades pressed into circles and although shapes like this could be considered as something so minor, I really love the aesthetics behind this! All the shades are also labelled beneath them which is so handy when it comes to trying to copy a look from Youtube, rather than the clear plastic which we all find annoying, lose, or throw away! Inside the palette, there's also a huge mirror, the width of the entire lid, which is always handy and a nice plus.

Although I typically reach for shimmers, as I'm a sucker for anything sparkly, I really love the mix and I've been enjoying switching it up for subtle matte looks now and then. Typically, I go for a gold and brown smokey eye as I've simply got into the quick routine of doing so, but I wanted a palette with some colours out of my comfort zone to play around with, which this palette is perfect for!

I still haven't played around with this palette as much as I would like too, but I've already used pretty much every shade! Sadly, you can tell in the pictures which shades I've already used the most since the 'Tarte' stamp has already vanished.

On to quality... Since these are the first eyeshadows and products, in general, I've tried from Tarte, I can't comment or compare them to anything else from their range. However, my favourite all time palette is the 'Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette' and this Tarte palette is defiantly up there. I always struggle with matte shadows as I find a lot of them can be relatively chalky, however, I haven't found that problem with these shadows at all! The shadow quality is amazing and the formula is extremely pigmented and buttery, making them really easy to blend! I've found I prefer the look of the metallic shimmer shades once applied with my finger rather than a brush purely because I personally love the strong shimmer look.

Personally for me, 'Trendy' is the star of the palette! I've never owned or seen anything like this shade before which really drew me to the palette and I love wearing it on a night out! I take it all over the lid with 'Mod' and 'No Filter' blended in the crease. This is the first combination of coloured eyeshadows I've ever worn opposed to sticking to neutrals and golds and I love the look! I also found there not to be much fall out at all from these eyeshadows, although I always do my eyeshadow first and like to clean up afterwards before doing my face.

Originally, I was indecisive between the oh so raved about 'Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette' which everyone and their Instagram feed own, but I felt I wouldn't use it half as much as I'd like too so I opted for the Tarte Tartiest Pro Palette' and I'm really glad I did!
